THE BANANA

Strange as it may be, the fruits and vegetables we buy at greengrocers or supermarkets look practically nothing like the ones our ancestors grew thousands of years ago. This has been compiled in a video that shows the spectacular evolution that these crops have undergone over time.

This short film, produced by Grubstreet, aims to raise awareness of how human beings have the power to change nature in favor of their interests.

 BANANA

For example, the wild banana was first cultivated 7,000 years ago in Papua New Guinea and contained within it a large, hard seed and was much greener in color than it is today. To this day, bananas have been genetically manipulated and the result is a fruit with imperceptible seeds, better flavor, more nutrients and a much more striking color.
